In laboratory conditions the effect of tested diets with the coccolithophore, Emiliania huxleyi (EMI) and cryptophytae, Rhodomonas salina (RHO) on the daily production of eggs (EP) and hatching success of viable nauplii (H %) of Calanus helgolandicus was investigated in comparison with control diets with diatoms (mixture Thalassiosira and Chaetoceros) and dinoflagellates (Prorocentrum minimum). EP in situ was 11.8-13.1 eggs•female-1•day-1, it is decreased up to 0 under 4-days feed with tested diets and is restorationed under subsequent feed with control diets to the original value. H % on EMI diet was close to 0, on RHO and mixture diatoms diet it was approximate to H % - in situ - 60-80 %, while under the shift on dinoflagellates diet H% is increased on average to 94 %.
